|Probably my last post for several days...

Mom's coming down to visit this week. Ack! Thankfully I have Tuesday off - so I've got from when I wake up until about 3pm to reduce the clutter and filth in the house to a level where she will think that it's only this messy because I've been so busy. Setting fire to the place has crossed my mind. We'll have a nice visit for a couple of days then I'll have to work doubletime to make up for the time off. But it will be great to have a visit that doesn't require another 6 hour drive to make happen. |
THREE weekends of NCRF have been taking their toll. It's all I can do to unpack the things that really, really need to be washed, wash them and get them packed back up. NCRF is a great "warm up" for the season...although the crowds were thin on the ground the first weekend and I froze various extremities off the second. Although it wasn't the cold so much as the constant struggle to stay upright against the wind and worrying about keeping the dogs warm enough that sapped my reserves.
At least Easter Day the weather was milder, the crowds were out in full force and the fun was not just in seeing old friends, but also in getting to play with patrons and promote the dogs. We did have one person who came with his greyhound and said that he'd seen us at a previous faire and decided on a greyhound after meeting ours.
Which almost made the hours of driving in godawful traffic, the butt-crack of dawn wakeup time, the crazy packing, unpacking, tent-set-up, freezing, watching friends spend the day relaxing and drinking and allowing their BFA to come and go at will, watching other friends get paid for doing a lot less work, the re-packing and arriving home during the wee hours followed by a sleep-deprived day at work worth it.
Ah, well, it beats shooting crack...
