|I did it!

I said "no, I can't" to a friend asking for a favor. I've been helping him out with this project and have put in several hours, phone calls, arrangements, facilitations, meetings, called in favors...and the plan for the project keeps changing -- admittedly, due to no fault of his own. |
But the last favor asked -- to leave site on Saturday, drive a near hour, do prep for an hour or two, then drive back to site, in the teaming rain/mud...I actually said "uh, no. I just can't do that." Okay, so he gave me an easy out -- that he would understand if I said no...but still that's a Hee-Yuge step for me.
Of course, I then screwed up the "no" by offering to stop on my way home and pick up the supplies necessary for the project, justifying that a half an hour was way better than the driving scenario....
"No" is so hard.
Oh darlin you *almost* had it there didn't you?
It takes time and practise - just say no and all that jazz.
of course don't say no to free booze, friendly smoochies, or -- well -- those wonderful early morning tonsil ticklin sessions ;)
See ya Sunday. I'm pretending I'm sugar and will melt tomorrow .........
Work on that.
I have faith in you.
Stands and claps
Yeah- I owe you a drink for the NO! - especially cause you didn't say it to me.
Progress, you made progress. Good job! Next time we shoot for "no" without following it with "but I could..."
I hear ya. I am a compulsive people pleaser. Good for you for saying it!
no! it isn't hard at all!! see how easy that was? no? now you're getting it! hehe.
good lord, especially saturday, you'd be DEAD RIGHT NOW if you had said yes to the whole shebang.
