Well, there's nothing like a Thursday Happy Hour with your workmates to generate a post about me going just one step too far....|
For starters, I was NOT the person who started the "If you had to do" game. If you haven't played that, it's when you pick two people who are not present and you pose the question "Bob or John, if you had to do one, which?" Naturally, repulsive choices are the most fun. Although you run out of those and then it gets uncomfortable in a different way. And, it's a very effective deterrent to "failing to show up". But still, we took it as a measure of just how stressed out work has been. If "hilarity/inappropriate conversation" varies directly with "stress", we've been wrapped pretty damn tight.
Let me tell you, this is probably NOT a good game to play with your co-workers...but if you do, do it at the end of the week, so that the next morning, you're not sitting in a room half-filled with people who played the game and half-filled with people who were the targets. Because you will NOT know who to look at. It's like a visual minefield. I'm not a doodler, but today, I was writing down the conversations verbatim, just because I was afraid to make eye contact.
You, of course, will be proud of me. Competition was fierce - my usually reserved colleagues were in full overshare mode. But one said "Hey, you know what they say, a woman is only two margaritas away from a lesbian experience and I said "Wait, I was supposed to hold out for two?" Which is pretty tame for me, unless your boss and boss's boss are standing right there.
On another note: we had a pancake testing today. Most of them were nonstore brands, but we did have Mrs. Butterworth's and Krusteaz. Dudes, dump the Butterworths and get Krusteaz. Even though the name grosses me out. And I don't usually use pre-mixes. Nor do I usually eat pancakes, since I can eat them until I burst and then a half an hour later am looking for an actual breakfast.
But if I ate pancakes more often, I would use Krusteaz with a dash of vanilla, 'cause that's how I likes my pancakes.
