Here come the Peeps... [Mar. 17th, 2009|12:56 pm]
Yes, I have a thing for Peeps. Not a make-a-diorama kind of thing, or peep-themed clothing, decor, or accessories. I just like to eat them, for crying out loud. Yellow. Sorry, but yellow. The others taste...funny. Which is ironic, considering what the they taste like to begin with.

And no, I have no craving for bunnies, or ghosts, or Christmast trees or any of the other shapes that they are forcing marshmallow into. The beauty of a Peep is: that's the way it falls out of the machine nozzle. That's art and food. That's natural. (For a peep.) You can look at a Peep and see how the nozzle moved back and forth, extruding marshmallowey goodness (or not) and then the little fillip at the end to make the beak. Sigh.

Not a bunch of molds that had goo shot into them. Blech.

I think it's the gritty sugar that does it for me.

But anyway, combining my love of Peeps with the Maryland State Sport, I give you Peep Jousting: http://www.phancy.com/peeps/joust/index.html

And, for the record, the Russell Stover Chocolate Covered Marshmallow Rabbit is the best of all chocolate covered marshmallow rabbits. For you, my friends, I have suffered many second-rate chocolate covered marshmallow rabbits. But I knew you were counting on me, so I tried them all. Even did secondary checks...blind tastings and side by side comparisons. I cannot fit into any of my spring clothes because of it, but a mission is a mission.

For another record, if you want to send a special bunny to someone:

They have a bunny where different parts of the bunny are different flavors. And they're all good. Plus their other stuff is good, if you're looking for garden, horse or nautical-themed chocolate gifts.

Peep Jousting gets my vote for best use of a peep and best use of a microwave for 2009, at least so far... I count on you to keep me informed of other candidates, TT.
