Oh, the irony... [Nov. 28th, 2007|10:35 am]
I get food recall notices at work now.

Asian brand names often make me giggle: Goldensmell Dried Fungus

But then I get to the Brand names that weren't funny on their own, but when paired with their recall....

Wegman's "Food You Feel Good About" Wheat rolls are recalled for a packaging error that could affect folks with milk allergies. Maybe not so good, if you have a lactose intolerance/allergy, huh?

Baby's Bliss Gripe Water, which is supposed to ease colic and stomach discomfort in infants, recalled for cryptosporidum, which causes...you guessed it.

And finally, my favorite:

Undeclared walnuts in.....

"Do you have any walnuts to declare?" Never cross a border with a shelled nut in your pocket.

Really? Golly, we just flew back from England a couple of months ago with all sorts of shelled nuts in our back packs- food for the plane- and never thought about it. I was more worried about our instruments in the hold than anything else.

i'm on the recall listings too. Teh Dumb today was undeclared nuts in the Harry & David's Macadamia Nut Clusters. apparently it wasn't listed in the ingredients list so they're recalling them all. um... it's on the box. you know... where it says NUT. there might be nuts in it.

but then, on our shrimp cocktail we bought a week or so ago, the ingredients said, CONTAINS: SHRIMP. POSSIBLE ALLERGENS: SHRIMP.

I've never understood the need to label the obvious to anyone who was even slightly literate. The shrimp label is the dumbest thing I've seen in a while.

I can understand telling folks there is aspirin in Alka-Seltzer. It ain't obvious in the name. But if they can read the label for the Shrimp Cocktail...
