First, an ad for....well, I dunno, was it the IRS or someone already trying to tell you where to spend the money you don't have yet? I was too busy snorting everytime the announcer said "stimulus payment". |
Is it just me, or does that sound really dirty? Stimulus AND payment? Sign me up!
And another quote, with absolutely NO context -- I just caught it passing through channels. A minister/pastor/priest/churchdude said "We ought to have a new rule in church. Everytime someone says they're offended, we ought to slap them."
Whoa. I mean, I'm the first person to brandish the "oh, get over it" flag and definitely think people need to chill, learn to roll their eyes (why are we so good at that when we're teenagers, but lose the ability to do so as adults?) and just let it go.
But slapping? Dude, that's pretty hardcore for a church. If I didn't secretly suspect you've got a lot of other views I'd find abhorrent, I'd applaud.
LOL too funny on both counts. And while I agree there are likely other things I would want to tell that minister to get over...that message on its own is cool!
But slapping? Dude, that's pretty hardcore for a church.
It's too early - I read that as BUTT slapping and thought whoooeeee sign me up - that's my kind a church.
G'mornin and yes I believe I will have more coffee.

Every once in awhile our priest gives us a homily on Matthew 5:39: if anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. Maybe I should have been paying closer attention.
This is not a Christian philosophy I'm familiar with, but in this country there's a pew for every tuchus. Kind of reminds me of that scene in Witness where Harrison Ford, dressed plain, breaks a guy's nose and the other Amish explain it by saying, "He's Ohio Amish."
If I didn't secretly suspect you've got a lot of other views I'd find abhorrent, I'd applaud.
It's those suspected secret views that keep me buying liquor from establishments open on Sunday.
